The national history and heritage enable the present generation to delve into the rich history of Mauritius
and contribute to validate memories of the past.
The National Heritage Fund (NHF) is mandated to identify, protect, manage and promote our various National tangible and intangible heritages. Among them is the famous Aapravasi Ghat,
known as a national, regional and international memorial site that was declared a United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage Site in 2006.
Additionally, the Le Morne Cultural Landscape was inscripted on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008.
